Thousands of Coloradans support Bernie Sanders in a downtown Denver rally

The rally was originally scheduled for the Bellco Theater which seats 5,000 people inside the convention center but was moved to the two exhibition halls due to the overwhelming amount of people saying they wanted to attend. More than 11,000 people arrived on Sun. evening, according to a Denver fire marshall.

This is Sanders’ second visit to Colorado for the 2020 campaign cycle, and the turn out for this Sunday night rally was much greater than the one in September.

Sanders was greeted by a roar of excitement, and kicked off the rally by saying “we cannot continue to have a president who is a pathological liar, who is running a corrupt administration, who has no clue what the constitution of the United States is about, who is a bully, who is vindictive, who is a racist, who is a sexist, who is a homophobe, who is a xenophobe.”

Sanders began by stating how the first order of business is to get President Donald Trump out of office because he is only profiting from us and not truly helping the people, and the only way to accomplish this is by voting for Bernie Sanders.

Immediately entering the venue there was a rush of excitement as herds of Sanders supporters followed the large group of volunteers directions. The venue was extremely crowded with no specific demographic to be noted as it was a wide variety of people.

The volunteers and speakers were using positive words to encourage everyone to vote. “Feel the Bern” chants flooded the venue as everyone raised blue and white signs that said “Bernie 2020.”

Colorado State Representative, Emily Sirota, made a compelling speech on how other candidates are “buying” a win of the primary election.

“We need to stop them [billionaires] from profiting off the pain and suffering of millions of Americans,” Sirota ended on this statement.

Next an immigration rights activist shouted about how Sanders will create the “Green New Deal, decriminalization of homelessness, abolish ice, facilitate free school lunches and an inclusive society where everyone flourishes.”

These powerful statements brought everyone chanting “Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!” which illuminated the venue. Everyone was getting anxious and excited about Sanders’ arrival.

Sanders came out to a rumble of thousands of supporters cheering on his presence.

Sanders runs his campaign off of helping the working class and supporting everyone in society, not just specific groups.

“We need a government and economy that works for all of us just not the 1%,” Sanders preaches to the crowd and making a jab at the small population of billionaires.

Senator Bernie Sanders had hopefulness spitting out of his voice, as he has taken the lead in national polls for the Democratic nomination across the nation.

“We must end the corrupt system where billionaires buy the election and move to a public funding of elections. The only way change ever takes place is from the bottom on up not the top on down,” Sanders reiterates Sirota’s words on the power of rich candidates.

Sanders runs on the foundation on how his viewpoints have been extremely consistent. Sanders has served as a U.S. Representative for 16 years, and was elected into the U.S. Senate in 2006.

“This isn’t about Bernie. It’s about you, you, us and we,” Sanders states while pointing around to the sea of his supporters.

“We are all Americans. We are in this together,” and as Sanders repeatedly says, “Not me. Us.”
